I have bought a number of kitchen shears over the years, generally endorsed by this or that celebrity chef, only to have them quickly lose their edge, develop rust spots, or come apart. I have never been pleased with any that I have bought in the past. Then a few months ago, while driving down a dirt road east of Yuma AZ (having just enjoyed a lovely date shake from Martha's Gardens Medjool Date Farm), I heard a loud thumping from the back of the car and realized that I had a flat tire. When I finally got it off the car, I grabbed my pliers and pulled a peculiar object out of my rear passenger side tire. I identified it from the brand name on the blades even though the plastic handles had broken off, and realized that a pair of Henckels Kitchen Shears left on the road had blown out my tire. Not only that, but even after cutting straight through the tread of a steel belted radial, they were still wicked sharp.Of course, I immediately ran out and bought a pair and threw out my old, dull kitchen scissors. I have had these now for a month or so and have used them extensively in my kitchen, where they have proven tremendously effective and durable. You will never see me leaving scissors on he road!2024 update: still sharp!
