I first bought this set of mitts 5 years ago. They have had hard use. I bake A LOT. They were still in great condition, not worn or thin, no gaps in heat protection, until I left one laying on a burner that was still on. Dumb move. I will say it just smoldered some but still no holes or anything, but it did turn black (I had left it on the burner for a few minutes). I decided it was time for a new pair and was delighted to see the exact same style available. The 10.5" length is perfect. Anything longer is too bulky for me, and it's harder to grip the pan as well. You won't regret purchasing these. They will last you a long, long time when used properly.
