The sponges are very compressed when they arrive but within a couple of days look and work like standard name-brand scrubbing sponges.The pads were air sealed and looked flat. I had to immerse in water for some time to get them to gain some shape. They are a good value for the money spent.They seem a little thinner than the ones I buy in the Grocery store but they work just as well.
