I love, love, love this island! Looks so much better in my kitchen than my old square one. Also glad I went with the white instead of the natural color. There would not have been enough contrast and the solid wood color would have been so boring. The white color is fresh and clean. The cart was packed very well and arrived quickly. Box 1 was the cart and box 2 was the top. It took quite a while to get everything unpacked and organized b/c there was so much Styrofoam!!! But, all the pieces were there and all nuts and bolts were used. In addition to the allen wrench provided, the only other tool you need is a nice phillips head screw driver.Assembly was confusing at the beginning, but once you get going it starts making sense and is easier. My piece #6 was labelled #9. So watch for that. Also, pay close attention to the drawers. If the rollers are not at the front, the drawers will not slide in properly. I did the first one perfectly but screwed up the next one. Had a margarita about that time! Even with two people, it took us over 2 hours. Anyone used to putting things like this together might find this product a breeze to assemble. But, I had to be very patient with it. I left off four of the small wood dowels when assembling the top and drawers, but it hasn't mattered a bit. The screws and other metal parts are the main support.Update Dec. 31, 2012. I have taken away one star on this product because the wood top is not holding up well. In addition to certain black marks that were on the top when received (and which cannot be cleaned off), lately I have noticed "lighter" areas where the wood pieces were put together with glue. The glue shines and is very noticeable. Also, the wood seems to stain easily - it must be very porous. The top is the part which will get the most wear and tear so I don't like that this is happening. So this wasn't the first time me and my husband put together some sort of kitchen cart. This was actually or second. We wanted similar in color but a different style. The parts were not labeled correctly for starters. This for the most part is open except for the two drawers unlike the other piece. We expected this to be a breeze. Everything looks fine until you touch it! It is completely wobbly as the pieces don't actually lock in when you turn them like they are supposed to. The top worries me the most, when we go to move I'm afraid it will completely come off because it is not secured. The shelves and the drawers aren't the problem but the frame itself! We have it sitting on casters but every time I go to drain my tabletop ice machine, the slightest bump sends this thing shaking in the opposite direction. It isn't sturdy to say the least! I wish things were made to actually screw wood screws into the wood to secure a fit instead of the pieces they use.I’m upgrading my review of three years ago (see below) because this cart is one of the most useful items I have ever purchased and because it has held up so well.Older comments: The reviews for this product already do a good job of indicating both the strength of this product--its attractive sturdiness, and also its main weakness--materials that don't quite measure up to the quality of the design. Over all, I ended up pleased with the product once I completed it, even though the wood top was slightly gouged and the drawers bottoms flimsy and somewhat warped. I did request one replacement drawer front because the screw holes in the piece were so shallow and the wood so hard that I couldn't get the fastener inserted with a screwdriver. (The other drawer was OK.) The Crosely customer service person was extremely nice, but when the replacement came, I was disappointed to find that it had the same problem. I had to hire my handy man and his drill gun to finish the job, which irritated me and added to the cost of the object. One caution about the ordering process: after submitting my order, I reread the reviews and decided the cart assembly might be too complicated for me. Even though I attempted to cancel my order within two or three hours of my initial submission, the Amazon system wouldn't let allow me to change my mind. The only offered recourse was either to refuse delivery or to go to the trouble to ship this two-box kit back. Since my UPS and Fedex delivery people arrive and depart before my dog can even manage a third bark, refusal seemed a poor option. The hassle of having to manage a return also seemed problematic. My advice to potential buyers is to read the reviews carefully and make sure you really want this item (and other heavy, hard-to ship-products) before you complete your order. Difficulty in cancelling probably is the necessary downside of extremely fast Prime shipping, so even if you enjoy two-day delivery, keep in mind that speed has its price. As it turns out, I managed the challenge of assembly, even though it took me awhile to get the hang of the visual instructions and two afternoons to work my way though the parts and pieces. Crosley's very clear labeling helped as did reviewers warnings about making sure the door gliders were in the right position.Easy to assemble (easier if you've assembled furniture before and know how things like cam locks and bolts work), looks nice, fits my space perfectly, and increased my kitchen counter space by about 50% while giving me two more drawers. It would have been nice if the drawers were a little deeper, but that's a minor point. As another reviewer noted one of the drawers catches a little as you close it, which is a small annoyance. Be aware also that it comes excellently packed but with incredible amounts of polystyrene and cardboard, and the unpacking is a major process by itself. I unpacked everything and broke up and discarded all the packing material immediately then vacuumed up all the little beads of polystyrene that were everywhere in order to clean up my assembly area. Once together and in place, though, it was pretty much exactly what I wanted. Price on Amazon was the best I could find for the unit (well under MSRP) and it arrived on the date promised.
