We love Mediterranean and Indian food. The flavors just fill the kitchen and are healthy (usually) and interesting. This cookbook filled a need hole in my recipe collection. I bought "Olives and Oranges" by Jenkins and Fox about the same time and was very disappointed by the overly exotic recipes full of ingredients that are difficult to get. This recipe book is just the opposite. The ingredients can be easily found and there are lots of interesting recipes to appeal to a large variety of tastes. I found very few that I did not like - and I am picky. What I liked:1) Since it is in paperback form, the light binding allows me to open the book in the middle and keep it open while making a recipe.2) The layout is simple with easy to read fonts. Very few recipes run to the next page.3) Many recipes have variations and the variation is on the same page so I did not have to search for the base recipe.4) Recipes with the American cook in mind. As stated - ingredients can be found in most large grocery stores and are not hard to find.5) Interesting comments, but not overdone. Two minor issues: She uses curry powder instead of recommending one or more recipes for her curries. I have yet to find a curry powder that makes a good curry. If she has one, I'd like to know what brand she uses. I would also have liked to know if some of the ingredients have acceptable substitutes (would yellow onions work instead of red onions).Overall I would highly recommend the book.
