I've been using this type of cutting mat for several years. I find them easy to store, easy to pull out and use, and easy to wipe off or rinse off and dry and put away. I use these 2-3 times a week, and eventually I do cut through them, so I see them as disposable. One lasts me a few months, but it'll vary depending on how often you use them, how much cutting you do, how sharp your knives are, how hard you cut. I don't use different color mats for different foods. I just go through them one at a time.
