I received this book as a gift after cooking incessantly from my first Uyen Luu book Vietnamese. I'm always looking for healthy ways to get veggies in, especially as a non-veg lover, and I knew if I love Uyen's meat recipes, her veggies recipes would be delicious. This book does not disappoint!Uyen shares her beautiful stories around these recipes, her family, and gives greater context to the food experience, not to mention the inclusion of all the mouthwatering photos. This book is clearly a labor of love and a work of art.The instructions are simple, the flavors are balanced and delicious, and several of these recipes are a family favorite already! I note that they also taste VERY similar to my favorite Vietnamese restaurant, so when cooking these recipes, I must be doing something right!I also enjoy several recipes share the ability to make it once, have it twice in different ways. Lemongrass tofu is a great example. It can be served with rice, as a noodle salad, or in a spring roll, making weekday lunches quick, healthy and unique.I can't recommend Uyen's books enough, especially if you're a cook looking for something delish and different from your "go to" repertoire. Enjoy!
